It's no secret, when your options are 'war with unruly frizz' or 'cocktail by the pool' most of us would opt for latter faster than you can say Piña colada! Changes in temperature, the stress of flying and increased humidity however, can leave our dreams of holiday waves out of reach. Here are my favourite tips for simple holiday hair.
1. Number One
Choosing the right shampoo and conditioner is my first step! When travelling to countries with a higher average humidity than Australia, I steer away from volumising shampoos because I find the water in the air adds enough bounce. Instead I look toward an everyday shampoo, something that is gentle on the scalp and suitable for all hair types. Recently I have been packing Klorane's Shampoo and Conditioner with Oat Milk. Oat is well known for its exceptionally rich content in sugar, lipids and vitamins that work to both soften and protect the hair. The pair work to soften the hair and keep the scalp balanced. I love the fluid and velvety texture of the conditioner that ads just the right amount of moisture to hold down my fine hair.
A few things I love about Klorane is their commitment to sustainability. The oat milk in these products is cultivated following organic farming standards in the south-west of France. And the packaging is made from 55% recycled materials.
2. Get a Head Start
Like all of life's little problems, prevention is better than a cure. Hair is no different, fifteen minutes once a week can be the answer to softer, healthier hair. In the month leading up to a sun soaked holiday I use a weekly conditioning mask. My tip, use a comb to seperate your hair and make sure the mask is actually coating all the hairs.
3. Transit Solution
We've all been there, face squished against the glass while you attempt an hour or two of sleep in between crying babies and blaring earphones, chances are your hair is looking a lot like you feel. In transit there's only one thing for it: dry shampoo! After being scared by an experience during high school that left me with a ghost white tinge through my hair for school photo day, it's taken me a long time to trust dry shampoo again. But truth be known this is a product that has come a long way in the past ten years. I like to run my fingers through my hair before giving it a quick spray of Klorane's Dry Shampoo with Nettle. I typically leave the product to sit for a few minutes before I work it through with my fingers.
